Haemophilia 2008
The website for the 2008 WFH World Congress is now online at http://www.hemophilia2008.org/. The congress will take place 1-5 June 2008 in Istanbul, Turkey.
The WFH World Congress is the premier international event for everything about haemophilia. The congress features presentations about the latest research and advances in diagnostics, treatment and care for haemophilia patients from around the world. The world`s haemophilia organisations are well represented and the congress is an important chance to establish networks and catch up with friends.
Speaking from my personal experience as a participant in the 2006 World Congress in Canada, attending such an event is a unique opportunity to learn about all aspects of haemophilia and meet some wonderful people who each in their own way contribute to improving conditions for patients with haemophilia.
So, if you get offered the chance to go to Istanbul, do not hesitate to say yes. You will not regret it!

I`m interested in knowing those of you who`s going to Istanbul for the World Congress.
I will be in Istanbul and I would like to stay a few extra days to visit all the great places the city has to offer. To do this sight-seeing with a companion or two (or more) would probably make it more fun! So let me know if you are interested too in spending a few more days in Turkey.

With the start of the congress now only 10 days away, I hope you all feel the enthusiasm mounting. I just checked the latest weather forecast for Istanbul, and it seems this week will be 25-30 deg C with few clouds. Fingers crossed that it will continue that way. Remember to pack your summer clothes!
I will not be going, but I am not the least bit envious (lie!)...
Have a great trip, and please drop a note or two on Los Bleedos to let the rest of us know about all the interesting things going on.

Hello all,
the opening event is over now, a lot of turkish music and dancing has been shown before the displaying area was opened. It was really crowded and I did already see some of the guys I know.
Maybe some of the useres of this forum can manage to meet altogether during the week. Would be nice to know the persons behind the nick-names. What about an evening at a bar or something like that?

Hello everybody,
a little update, just for those who might be interested.
The regular congress sessions started today and showed a broad variety of topics, e.g. the influence of physical activity on young hemophiliacs, the effects on their family and on mothers/carriers in particular.
Mr. Stephenson (UK) presented a new excercise program which seems to manage the introduction of appropriate exercises without the smack of a "manual for sport for the disabled". I hope we`ll see and hear more
from that program, as it might encourage more juveniles to choose healty sports for them.
The exhibition area is quite large with a special poster area displaying a lot of studies, scientific news and reports to e.g. alternative ways for the treatment of bleedings. The booth of the pharmaceutical companies
offer a variety of information material about their products, research and recent innovations and improvements (reduced infusion volume, longer shelf life without the necessity of cooling, new mixing/filter systems...).
In short: so many interesting things and so little time. But there are another three days ahead.

Hello all,
yesterday went fine. Some of us went to the bazar and enjoyed the atmosphere there.

There seems to be a get-together for the younger attendants of the congress by today`s early afternoon. I guess this will be quite interesting so we are looking forward to it.
The lack of sleep is starting to take its toll but we can sleep when we`re dead (or on the flight home).
