Global directory of haemophilia centres

To get this new topic of travelling started, I will just mention a publication by the WFH, which is a valuable ressource for any person with bleeding disorders embarking on a journey abroad. It is the Passport: Global Treatment Centre Directory, which contains a comprehensive listing of haemophilia treatment centres and organisations around the world. Even though you do not expect to require medical attention, accidents can happen and then it is useful to know where the nearest treatment center i located.

A note on Tokyo - Dr. Fukutake at the Tokyo Medical College Hospital HTC is an awesome guy and speaks fluent English.

Also, if you`re staying in Japan for long-term, get national health insurance.  Hemophiliacs are covered 100% (mainly due to the nasty HIV fallout back in the 80s and such), so I got my factor (something like 15-20 infusions/month at 2000ui each) for a 980-yen/month (this is about $9) premium.  It`s much more convenient than the red tape required to import factor from your home country.

Wow, that is a pretty amazing system they have in Japan. In Denmark treatment is free for Danish nationals, but I think visitors need private health insurance.
