A few updates
I spent this evening fixing a few bugs in the software behind Los Bleedos.
- When you click on "Find on map" in a user profile, you now get Google`s hybrid map, overlaying street maps on satellite imagery. I found that often Google does not have street maps at a sufficient detail level, so previously you would just get "sorry, we do not have images at this zoom level" instead of a map. Now the odds of getting a useful image are greater.
- We introduced a monthly newsletter on the Danish part of the site recently. When I created the function to send out the newsletter, I accidentally switched all mails being sent by our server from HTML format to text format. This meant that HTML codes would be visible in forum and guestbook email notifications. Now these mails are reverted to HTML format.
- Some of our recently joined users from Jamaica, Nepal and Kenya were placed in the Atlantic Ocean on the "other users" map. This was because I had not entered coordinates for these countries in our database. I have added coordinates for the above countries and a few others, so the markers should now be placed correctly.
I never cease to be amazed by the level of detail available in Google maps. Sometimes I find myself just browsing around the satellite maps looking for interesting things and places I have been.
