Haemophilia medicine linked to corruption
Only two weeks before the general election in Brazil, reports of investigations into massive corruption cases involving a large part of parliament members have caused uproar in Brazil. Corruption is nothing new in Brazil, but this is one of the first times that the scale of the corruption has been revealed. It is estimated that $5 billion of public money have been lost due to corruption since 2003, where a new president vowed to clean up the system.
Now you are wondering how this has any link to haemophilia... Well, one of the cases being investigated involves bribes to buy overpriced medical supplies, including haemophilia medicine. Several federal health officials are under accusation. The most prominent is a former minister of health.
