studying abroad
I have been considering lately of pursuing my academic formation in another country. Since it would mean living abroad for a long time, one major issue that concerns me right now is health insurance...
I know that every situation is different depending on the country from which you are and the one where you want to go. So, I`d like to know if anyone here has had an experience with those kind of things.
Thanks in advance!

hi cosmos,
I have no experience yet but walk into the same problems as you do. I have to study a year abroad for my education as well. My suggestion to you is to ask your doctor about the details (a social worker will also have loads of information about this).
Good luck and I keep you posted about my progress (preparation for me is after the summer)

If I study in one of the following countries: Denmark, Finland, France, Greece, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, Sweden; then I have no problem with insurance because my province (Canada is a confederation where provinces have jurisdiction on their health care system) has entered with those countries into reciprocal social security agreements providing for health care coverage.
But if I choose another country, then things get a bit unclear... Somebody told me I would have to pay my product from my own pocket in the foreign country, then receive a refund accordingly to the price with which we pay the product in my province... it could end up very costly this! In any case, I still need to investigate a lot I must say....
Thanks for the advice, Michael!

I already experienced studying abroad with hemophilia. I think, the most important thing to do is to check and make sure whether you are eligible or not to receive medication based on the system of the country where you want to do your study.
