India to set up own factor production
According to news reports, India is planning to build a facility to produce blood-based factor VIII and IX concentrates for the domestic market. The facility is expected to be operational in three years with costs totalling 33 mio. USD.
The introduction of domestic factor products will see a plunge in treatment costs, offering much needed relief for India`s 150.000 diagnosed haemophiliacs.
