They eat, play and did all sorts of funny antics and received much attention from their parents. Yes! The yearly family picnic has always been a fun event, where the family members of haemophiliacs get together just to unwind, have fun and relax.

This year's annual family picnic was held at Pusat Belia Bukit Lagong (Bukit Lagong Youth Center), Selayang, Selangor, MALAYSIA on 15th April 2006 and was a special event as it was planned to celebrate the World Hemophilia Day which falls on 17 April.

The haemophiliacs and their family members came in around 10.30 am. The event kicked off with a speech from our beloved President, Mr. Mohamed Aris in welcoming all the participants and updating them on the latest news about Haemophilia care and the WFH global advocacy on "Treatment For All". After introducing the organizer of the events, all the children were given a coin box as door gifts - partly to inculcate a savings habit among them too.

The organizers threw some fun and competitive games for the children and adults that created much laughter and screams from the audience. The finale game, the treasure hunt that called for teamwork from both children and adults was most interesting since every team members were seen busy running around to seek and solve timely the puzzling clues all over the place. Abundance prizes ensure every one was well rewarded for their sweat, speed and collective gung-ho actions.

The welcome break for lunch saw the participants share and enjoy the foods that they had brought from home. It was also the best time for the parents to catch-up and mingle with new members. Before bidding farewell, all the participants gathered and a group photo was taken; It was indeed a fun and fulfilling day and all went home with fond memories.

The society wishes to record its appreciation to the management of Pusat Belia Bukit Lagong for providing the excellent venue and the organizing team of the family picnic namely Edwin, Kim, Norhana and Saharudin for their kind effort.

The event described in this article is just one example of the many activities arranged for and/or by youths in the haemophilia organisations around the world.
At Los Bleedos we would like to hear about many more of these events, because the ideas behind may be useful to people in other countries wanting to organise something similar.
If you have attended or organised an event, we invite you to tell us about your experience. You may either write in the forum on Los Bleedos, or send us an e-mail at editors@los-bleedos.net.
