Questions and answers
How much does the bleeding disorder affect your life?
Haemophilia doesn’t really affect my life. I am able to do most things that I want to, and with a little bit of extra planning I’m able to do some things that I probably shouldn’t do.
I treat the majority of my bleeds myself, and only really attend hospital for checkups or bleeds that are out of the ordinary.
Which possibilities for treatment do you have?
My current treatment is Recombinant Factor IX in the form of ”BeneFix”.
What kind of contact do you have with other young people with bleeding disorders?
As a member of HFA’s Youth committee I have regular monthly contact via teleconferences with the other members of the youth committee. At these teleconferences we discuss issues that affect the Haemophilia Community, plan activities and discuss things that are happening in other states.
I also have contact with other young people with bleeding disorders through national conferences, camps, and organised social activities.
What would you like to know about other young people with bleeding disorders around the world?
I would like to know how other people deal with their bleeding disorder, how they get on and live their lives, techniques or resources they have found useful for overcoming difficulties, as well as sharing personal experiences.
