Announcement of contest winners | |
In connection with the recently concluded contest we announce the winners and look back on the past 3 months since the launch of Los Bleedos.
On 15 August the contest that has been running since the launch of Los Bleedos International ended. In order to participate, users had to create and activate a personal profile on the website. In total, 72 profiles qualified for the contest and among those, one first-prize winner and one second-prize winner were selected by a random draw. Over the weekend we have been in contact with the two winners, and we can therefore now announce that the winners are:
1st prize winner
|
|
2nd prize winner
|
|
Blackadder (Canada) |
|
Sanjay (India) |
|
Prize: Sony MiniDV Digital Video Camera |
|
Prize: Sony Playstation2 |
Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all of you who have created a profile on Los Bleedos!
Overwhelming response
When we originally launched Los Bleedos we did not imagine that after less than 3 months we would have surpassed the number of users on the Danish site. Nor did we imagine that we would have visitors from so many countries around the world. At the moment, Los Bleedos has had visitors from 59 different countries and users from 31 of those countries have created a profile. We have users from every continent except Antarctica and the site gets 15-25 visits per day. In several countries, Los Bleedos has been mentioned in the national haemophilia association's newsletter, and from some countries we have got requests for more promotional flyers to hand out.
In the forum, users are actively posting their ideas, questions and comments - 176 postings at the last count. The guestbooks are also being used to a great extent. We have been getting emails from users, who have gotten back in contact with old friends through the site.
All of this momentum is a great encouragement for us to continue to work to improve the site and write new articles. However, we cannot do it without you, the users. We need your input on what you would like to read about on Los Bleedos and specifically, we need you to continue contributing to the forum. Even though you may think some of the things you do in your youth group may only be relevant to your own country, people from other countries might be inspired by your ideas and encouraged to use them within their own youth group, and maybe develop them further. Sharing of ideas is the key to strengthening our respective associations and youth activities.
Future plans
In the editing group, we are working on two new series of articles. One series is the previously announced theme about sports and how it affects people with bleeding disorders. The first part of the series will be published very soon. The other series is about national haemophilia organisations around the world. If you would like to have your organisation included, please contact us.
On the technical front, we have a number of ideas that we are working with. Specifically, we are looking into ways of making it easier to see what is new since your last visit and to get news from the site directly into your e-mail program or newsreader. We highly value your input, so if you have some good ideas or suggestions for improving parts of the site, please let us know.
